SELF-REFLECTION:
Are you pleased with your final project (Why/Why not)?
Yes but at the same time no because I, personally, don't like art that looks like that or looks disorganized.
What did you learn from doing this project (skills, vocab, etc)?
I learned about the filter galley.
If you had to redo this project, what would you do differently?
Make it neater and more easier to look at.
Overall, did you enjoy the process of making this project (Why/Why not)?
A little because it was fun experimenting but I would've liked making a few areas the same filter (the entire head, the tail, etc.)
Bell-work Mon Nov 6:
Infographics are ways to tell a story graphically so that information can be easily read and understood. Designers should consider "Visual Hierarchy" which simply means to make your eye go to the most important part first and then flow easily to the next parts in order. This graphic below is a very bad infographic because there is bad visual hierarchy.
Write the problems you see should be fixed in this graphic below:
(What do you notice first? Is that what you should start with? What makes it hard to follow and read? What could the designer have done better?)
The graph is confusing. Instead of one being the big thing to start with, your eyes go to the label.
Bell-work Tues Nov 7:
Art by MC Escher (our field trip exhibition)
Look at the art below for a few seconds then close your eyes.
While your eyes are closed, think about what was on the painting. Then answer the 3 prompts below the art.
1) Write down what you remembered while your eyes were closed.
The lizards, a pineapple. The black and white color.
2) Why do you think you remembered what you did?
Because the picture is in a pattern almost.
3) Now that you look again and see more, why do you think you didn't notice the other parts?
Because the other parts weren't in the main area.
Bell-work Wed Nov 8:
UNITY is a design principle where graphic designer used similar colors, shapes, and elements that tie the design together. Each of these cans below has a different color and picture, but they are still unified so you know they are the same brand. Write down 3 things that give UNITY to the design of these products. In other words, what parts of the design make them look like they belong together?
The similar color shades, "infinite brew" being on all the cans and they all have similar pattern designs.
Bell-work Thurs Nov 9:
CONTRAST is a design principle where the graphic designer uses large differences between objects or elements in an artwork. It can be created using size, value, texture, color and more. Example: Big vs Small or Light vs Dark. See the graphic below for the ways contrast can be done.
For your bellwork, look at the image below for a restaurant logo. Explain at least two ways CONTRAST would help this be a better design?
Size, location and color.
